William A. Barrett

 

Mr. Barrett joined McInerney & Dillon in 1988 after eighteen years as Deputy City Attorney of the City and County of San Francisco. He has extensive trial and appellate experience in both the federal and state court systems. During his tenure as Deputy City Attorney Mr. Barrett handled a wide variety of cases, including taxation, condemnation, utility rates, public works contracts, civil rights, welfare, and personal injury. Mr. Barrett represented the City and County of San Francisco before numerous administrative agencies, including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, California State Water Resources Control Board, the California State and Regional Coastal Commission, and the San Francisco Appeals Board. He served for several years as counsel to the San Francisco Assessor and in that capacity represented the City and County in over 200 tax assessment cases. Mr. Barrett served as counsel for the San Francisco Clean Water Program, an EPA funded sewer improvement project, and in that capacity was responsible for reviewing all construction contracts prior to bid and litigating or arbitrating contractor claims. Since joining McInerney & Dillon, Mr. Barrett has concentrated on construction contract and business litigation.

 

Mr. Barrett received his Bachelor's degree in Accounting from the University of San Francisco in 1964 and his J.D. from Golden Gate University in 1968. He is a member of the State Bar of California and is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the U.S. Claims Court and other federal trial and appellate courts in California. He is also and associate member of the AGC Board of Directors, East Bay District.
