Our Construction law practice has been the cornerstone of our success over the years. We have addressed issues involving all phases of the construction process including financing, design, bidding, scheduling, fast track projects, contracting, change orders, bonding, insurance, mechanic's liens, stop notices, licensing and job safety. We advise our clients on many different types of projects such as highways, water and wastewater treatments plants, co-generation facilities, dams, hospitals, manufacturing plants and equipment, retail, office, institutional and residential projects. Based on our extensive representation of contractors, owners, subcontractors, public entities, design professionals, construction managers, and developers we can quickly and effectively respond to any questions you may have in this area of the law.

 

White litigation may be a last resort, in many instances it becomes the only practical alternative to resolve a problem. Our litigators are sensitive to the economic and personal effect which litigation may impose. Whether in the courtroom, in arbitration, or by mediation or negotiation, we work closely with you to serve your best interests.

 

Our attorneys have experience regarding contracts with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation, U.S. Postal Service, U.S. General Services Administration, and the U.S. Navy, and we have appeared before contracting officers, in the US Court of Federal Claims and the various Boards of Contract Appeals. Our attorneys handle government contract claims of all sizes involving construction and procurement.

 

Since the firm was founded in 1954, our administrative law practice has spanned from appearances before city planning commissions and county boards of supervisors' meetings to state and local regulatory agencies and the Office of Administrative Hearings, and the various districts in California.

 

Protecting our environment has generated a maze of constantly changing rules and regulations concerning waste treatment, cleanup, prevention, liability and assessment. We are well aware of the risks and requirement presented by environmental laws and regulations and we are able to guide you through their complexity and if necessary litigate these environmental issues.

 

Our attorneys are skilled in all aspects of real property transactions. We advise our clients on the purchase, sale, exchange and leasing of real estate, including advice on how to deal with properties affected by hazardous waste considerations. We provide guidance to our clients on financing that is appropriate for their acquisition, the subsequent development of those properties once acquired, and as necessary, the appropriate response to threatened condemnation to their properties. We are able to create business entities such as limited partnerships, limited liability companies, general partnership and join ventures for the ownership and development of the properties as may be appropriate to the business needs of the client.

 

We advise our clients on a broad range of corporate and partnership law, including business incorporation, partnership limited liability company and joint venture formation, shareholder agreements, business entity reorganizations, dissolutions, and liquidations. We offer assistance on negotiation and preparation of business purchase and sales agreements, purchase agreements, licensing agreements and employment agreements. Our varied experience includes the areas of intellectual property and copyright, unfair competition, including protection of business trade secrets, protection of valuable trademarks and tradenames and development of documents for marketing and protection of computer software. We also offer legal counsel and advice to our many non profit, tax exempt entities whose work offer a lasting benefit to our community.

 

Several of our lawyers have the special expertise required to address the spectrum of tax matters affecting corporations, partnerships, individuals, estates and trusts and non-profit organizations. These include transaction counseling for corporate, individual and partnership acquisitions, reorganizations, exchanges, and liquidations, as well as ERISA compliance, pension plans, and others employee benefits areas. We also offer advice regarding administrative proceedings before the Internal Revenue Service and the California Franchise Tax Board, as well as tax litigation before the U.S. Tax Court, United States Courts of Appeal for the Ninth Circuit, and the United States Claims Court.
